Help with hip stiffness and outer hip pain
Hip pain often feels like a deep ache in the groin or a tender spot on the outside of the hip that stops you lying on your side. Finding which structure is involved is the first step to choosing the right treatment.
Hip pain is most often due to osteoarthritis, felt in the groin and front of the thigh with stiffness and difficulty putting on shoes and socks, or to greater trochanteric pain syndrome, felt on the outside of the hip and often worse lying on that side.
Pain felt around the hip can also come from the lower back or sacroiliac joint, so a careful examination comes first. Dr Salama then offers targeted injections, and for arthritis pain where surgery is not suitable or is being delayed, radiofrequency treatment of the hip joint nerves.
